Uitvoering in samenwerking met meesterglasblazer Gert Bullée, geblazen glas, met de hand gevormd, Leerdam.
Earth – Caractus is een iconische glassculptuur die de schadelijke effecten van olie-extractie op onze leefomgeving verbeeldt. De vaas symboliseert hoe olie, opgepompt uit de aarde, het groen uit onze natuur verdrijft. Het kunstwerk bevat 7 natuurlijke cactus-schijven die gestileerde silhouetten zijn van de auto’s waarin Dirry, eerst als kind achterin bij haar ouders, later zelf achter het stuur heeft gezeten. Deze magnifieke groengele schijven vormen de “Caractus”, het genezende , evenwichtige en optimistische beeld voor onze global heating problematiek.
Laat het daarmee een duurzaam en milieubewust perspectief bieden, de Caractus als de kracht van vernieuwing en herstel voor de toekomst!

Earth – Caractus is an iconic glass sculpture that portrays the harmful effects of oil extraction on our environment. The vase symbolises how oil, drawn from the earth, displaces the green vitality of the natural world. The artwork incorporates seven natural cactus discs, stylised as silhouettes of the cars in which Dirry first travelled as a child in the back seat with her parents and later drove herself. These magnificent green-yellow discs form the “Caractus” – a healing, balanced and optimistic symbol in response to the challenges of global heating.
At the same time, the work offers a sustainable and environmentally conscious perspective, presenting the Caractus as a powerful emblem of renewal and restoration for the future.
